ORIGINS

Drumtochty Castle is a stunning and opulent 19th century Scottish castle. This magnificent castle is nestled in 350 acres of wild woodland glen, encapsulating a fairy tale church and breath taking landscapes.

Drumtochty Castle was built by the Drummond family in 1812 and designed by Edinburgh architect James Gillespie Graham. It is a castellated Neo-Gothic mansion with lavish interiors, antique furniture and historic paintings; everything you would expect in such a grand house. Rich in heritage, it has a fascinating story as a family home, private prep school and restaurant.

HISTORY

One of Drumtochty Castle’s most interesting time periods was during World War II. The castle was bought by the Norwegian government in exile and used as a boarding school for Norwegian children who were refugees from the German Occupation of Norway. The castle was known and referred to as ‘Little Norway’

The remarkable renovation project completed by Charlie & Dot Anderson, over 20 years ago, has seen Drumtochty Castle transformed to the exceptionally high standard it is today. It has been elevated from ruin to a luxurious castle and is now one of Scotland’s most prestigious wedding venues.
